Japan
Travel diaries - Japan
Japan during cherry blossom have always heard is the most beautiful place on the planet. When we got this opportunity this year we leaped at it. It is one of the politest country I’ve travelled to. Don’t get me wrong - Australians are nice but Japanese to another level.
Being a vegetarian I had heard horror stories about people getting served food with meat or fish sauce or oyster sauce. To be honest won’t lie did hear good stories as well where vegetarians found food everywhere. Initially I was quite bold and thought to myself we will see when we get there. It is difficult in today’s world unable find food. As time passed, few of my other friends’ had or were travelling to Japan kept saying how are you going to survive. It is going to be really difficult. Overtime I started feeling maybe it was not the best idea to travel to Japan.
When we got there initially I was skeptic about every food that was served to me. Slowly, I started getting used to it. People in Japan embraced my food habits. Everywhere we went they tried to help and cater for my needs. The fact that they tried made me feel comfortable. There are a lot of boxed Michelin star food sold at 7eleven (for Non Veg ). We went to 7eleven looking for some vegetarian food. The store guy went on reading ingredients on every noodle box to check if any of it was a vegetarian. He ran around the whole store to finally brought me back some “invisible noodles” :):)
We went to this place called NINO @ Nara. A really small Italian restaurant but the service oh boy!! Beats any top notch Michelin star restaurant. They made us fee on the top of the world with amazing Italian food. Yes you heard it right, one of the really good Italian food outside Italy.
The experience with people has been amazing. Even though I had some problems with food but the whole experience with the people has been amazing.
